In this article, I’m busting a HUGE Law of Attraction myth with a small excerpt from my new book, Why the Law of Attraction Works for Some People but Not You (coming soon).
Often times we can get caught up in the notion that feeling “good” all the time is the only way to consistently manifest our desires.
I’m here today to tell you that feeling good is great and all, but by putting this impossible expectation on yourself you’re actually hurting your manifesting powers more than you are helping them.
Let’s dive in so you can see what I mean!
In the Law of Attraction world, the main teaching seems to be that you must feel good in order to be a vibrational match to more feel-good things.
This is (mostly) true, but it’s also a bit misleading. And if you begin to take it too seriously, it can even become detrimental to your health!
Take me for example, when I first started learning about the Law of Attraction I quickly realized that all the “best” teachers were saying the same thing. “Feel good, and everything will come. Feel good because it feels good to feel good. Feel good because feeling bad feels bad (and hurts your manifesting power).”
And while this is all a very valid perspective, the fact of the matter is, it’s literally impossible to feel good all the time. And if you believe that you have to in order to have a good life, then when you find yourself feeling bad you’re going to judge that as wrong.
And if you judge your feelings as wrong, then you are in a battle with yourself, which is causing resistance, which is really ever the only obstacle that stands between you and the realization of all your awesome manifestations. Therefore, feeling “bad” is not the problem, feeling bad about feeling bad is.

The reality is, we are HUMAN and humans have feelings. All the feelings.
Are we much bigger than these bodies? Yes.
Are we super powerful beyond belief? Of course.
But we are living inside of human bodies, with human brains, and human hormones, experiencing human experiences. And there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s why we came here (aka reincarnated…again)!
We came to experience all the feels, not just the “good” ones or the “happy” ones.
And even if we could turn off half of our feelings and stick to just feeling good all the time, it wouldn’t even feel good! Because there would be no contrast and you wouldn’t even realize how good you are feeling cause you never feel the opposite. And so, you would be extremely bored.
Roller coasters go up and down for a reason. And that reason is fun.
It’s a lot more fun, exciting, and unpredictable to twist and turn and fly up and down. Imagine if roller coasters were just a straight shot at like 15 miles per hour on a long track that never changed… Can you say boring?
“Hey! You wanna go on this really fun roller coaster that just goes in a slow, sad, and lifeless straight line forever and ever? It’s the new thing to do.”
“Uh… hard pass. But thanks.”
For a while, I really did start to believe that I only came here (to this planet, in this lifetime, I mean) to feel good. And any time I didn’t feel good, I did exactly what I just talked about above and shamed my bad feelings. #Guilty
Please look at how profoundly this seemingly “good” belief was hurting me. I thought that feeling good was the ONLY reason for my existence. So when I felt anything other than good, I believed that I was not living my purpose. And if I wasn’t living my purpose, then why was I even existing at all?
Do you see how quickly that escalated?! On the outside, it looked like I had this shiny, fun, harmless belief that “I came here to feel good!”. Yay! What a good purpose.
When really, my core belief was, “If I’m not feeling good, then I shouldn’t even bother existing and I might as well just not (live* that is).”
How sad is that? That’s no way to live! Labeling some of your feeling as “right”, while you label others as “wrong”.
Feelings are feelings! Period. They don’t become good or bad until YOU label them as such. Or someone else does for you.
So please, let your feelings live. They aren’t trying to destroy you. They only want to give you the full spectrum of life experience and guide you to where you want to go.”
