4 New Year's Writing Prompts for an Amazing New Life

"Write it down on real paper with a real pencil. And watch shit get real." -Erykah Badu

Every year, for the last five years, I've been away for work on New Year's Eve. (Now, before you go feeling all sorry for me, you should know that by "work" I mean dancing on stilts at fun parties, and by "away" I mean traveling all over North America. It's actually awesome.)

That means that majority of my New Year's weekend is spent in a tiny hotel room. So, since I'm all cooped up, I like to take the time to do some writing about what I want the new year to be like, and you know what always happens?

Every single year my notes become my new reality.

The Secret to Manifesting a Ridiculously Awesome Year

There is something so powerful about the simple act of writing down your intentions. When you take the time to really focus on what you want and declare that you're committed to it on paper, the universe conspires to help make it happen for you.

As creators, we have the ability to create our lives exactly the way we want them. All we have to do is have a little intention and faith.

My secret to manifesting what I want from every year is to use the four simple writing prompts that I'm about to teach you. They help me get clear about exactly what I want and how I want to feel. By focusing on those two main things, what I want always manifests.

If you can use your imagination and write on paper, then these four prompts will dramatically change the outcome of 2019 for you, making it your best, most intentional year yet!

Shall we?

The 4 Writing Prompts

1. For 2019, I'm calling in lots of...

What do you want to bring more of into your life this year? Is it love, joy, abundance? Whatever it is, that's what goes here. List all the good feeling things you want to call in to your life starting now. Invite them into your experience by writing them down.

Some of my examples: Creativity, Self-Love, Great Books, Yoga, Joy, Meditation...

2. For 2019, I'm letting go of...

What in your life is no longer serving you and needs to be released? Could it be anger, stress, perfectionism, guilt? Whatever makes you feel shitty should be included on this list. It's time to let go of anything that doesn't contribute positively to your life. As you write each thing down, take a deep breath in and then let it out in a huge sigh of relief. Feel that thing literally leaving your life in that moment.

Some of my examples: Anxiety, People Pleasing, Judgement, Overworking, Crap around the house...

2. 2019 has got me feeling...

This prompt is similar to the first in that you are focusing on what you want, but this time you're describing how you want to feel. Do you want to feel happy, pretty, rich, funny? The more descriptive, the better. Imagine that you're wish is already fulfilled. Every time you write down a feeling, take a moment to embody that feeling before moving on to the next one.

Some of my examples: In love, Excited, Fulfilled, Powerful, Connected, Balanced, Un-stuck...

4. Awesome 2019 manifestations and goals...

This is where you list specific manifestations and goals that you want to happen for you in 2019. These can be more specific things like a new job, partner, or vacation. Or maybe you have some personal goals you want to achieve this year. All of that gets listed here.

Some of my examples: A beautiful and loving relationship, A cruise to somewhere warm and beautiful, $100,000 in my savings account...

A Couple Pointers

When you're writing things down, make sure you're imagining them as your current reality. That means everything is written in the present tense.

Do this exercise as often as needed. Don't limit yourself to just once a year! You can do this for every month, week, or even day!

Expect that once you ask, it is already given. When you put your intentions out there, the universe hears you and gets to work making it happen for you. All you have to do now is be open to receiving all that you asked for. (Read How to Manifest Your Desires So Quickly You'll Think it's Magic for help with receiving. Or if you’re really ready to commit to this new reality you just envisioned, consider enrolling in my online course Manifesting Masterclass so you can learn how to manifest all your desires this year!)

Do this exercise when you feel good because it's always best to manifest from a place of enthusiasm, rather than need.

Take as much time (and as much paper) as you need for each prompt. Don't limit your life to two minutes of brain storming, but also don't force it once you feel done. You can always come back to it later when you remember something you want to add.

And there you have it, folks! That's (one of) my secret(s) to getting everything I want. Manifesting it through writing. It's easy, it's fun, and it's so fulfilling when you see your intentions showing up in your life!

Can't wait to see what 2019 has in store for you. May all your lists come true!
