6 Toxic Things That Life Is Way Too Short For

As we all realize when we grow older, life is short. Like "wholly crap where did the last X number of years go" short!

Hence why we should pack in as much quality as we can, while we can. Which can seem like a daunting task when you realize that the average lifespan is only about 71 years (that's only 856 months)!

Luckily (and ironically), adding quality to our lives oftentimes has a lot more to do with subtraction than addition!

So with that being said, here are 6 things life is way too short for. Subtract them one by one and your life will improve exponentially!

You can thank me later. ;)

1. Chronic Stress

Unfortunately, in today's society, it's considered "normal" to be stressed all the time, but just cause everyone's doing it doesn't make it cool! #resistpeerpressure

Life is waaaaaay too short to live in a constant state of stress, which is really just a constant state of fear. I mean, just think of all the times you were too busy stressing about something and missed an opportunity to enjoy life! Ain't nobody got time for that.

So if you struggle with stress, it's time to do something about it. Here's an article where you can learn some coping mechanisms. There's also a whole chapter dedicated to kissing stress goodbye in my new book #ActuallyICan. And, if you're anything like me, you definitely need to start mediating!

2. People who bring you down

Weather they are a Negative Nancy, a Debbie Downer, or anything in between, if they bring you down (in any way shape or form), they've gotta go. Period.

"But Kelsey, they have been in my life for so long... they are my family... they need me..."

But nothing!! If they don't add any kind of happiness to your life, it's time to kick them to the curb (so to speak). Your precious time here on earth is extremely valuable, don't keep giving it away to people who don't deserve it!

Sure it might be hard to break the ties at first, but you don't have to be mean about it. Sooner or later (most likely sooner) you'll be SO glad you did. Plus, you shouldn't worry so much about them. They'll make friends with others more like them juuuuust fine. As they say, misery loves company!

3. not enjoying yourself

If you're not having fun then what are you doing with your life? I mean seriously. If you're not enjoying yourself (at least majority of the time) you're COMPLETELY missing the point. Life is supposed to feel good! #goodvibesonly

No, really. God told me.

In case you're short on ideas, here is a whole list of ways to enjoy life and feel good. :)

4. Resentment

Are you (*still) holding on to resentment about a certain situation or individual? Well, stop that! Life is simply too short. For starters, you're not serving yourself. And secondly, you're not even negatively affecting the other person, which is what your ego wants! They are getting along just fine with or without your dirty resentment. All you're doing is unnecessarily making yourself miserable. Talk about a waste of time!

How about you forgive so you can set yourself free? Learn how in this article.

5. A job you hate

If you hate your job, I have three words for you. Not. Worth. It.

I get that you wouldn't do the dreaded job unless you felt like you absolutely had to, but that's the thing, you actually don't! Think about how much of your life you spend working. The minutes, the hours, the days. That's a significant chunk of your life! You can't let that all go to waste!

"Well that's easy for you to say, Kelsey. You like all the things you do for work!"

WELL YEAH! That's kinda the whole point. It's no accident that I love all my "jobs" (teaching yoga, doing hair/makeup/microblading, writing books, performing on stilts...). And it just goes to show that if one person can have multiple awesome jobs, you can at least find (or maybe even create) one!

There are endless ways to make money nowadays. If you hate your job, it's time to manifest something better!

6. Anything that costs you your peace of mind

Finally, and most importantly, the number one thing life is way too short for is anything that costs you your peace of mind. The general rule of thumb here is: If it costs you your peace, it costs too much. Use this guide as a mantra when making big decisions and you can never go wrong.

A Helpful Tool

Because you're reading this article you're obviously looking for answers as to how to improve your life and get rid of all the negativity. So I'd love to share a tool with you that will help. It's a 30-Day Negativity Detox by resiliantapp.com and it's awesome!

You can do the detox in a course or book format and it will totally help you subtract all the negative stuff and fill that void with good vibes instead! I personally recommend you take the course (as opposed to reading the book) because it will be easier to implement what you learn, but both are great.

And if we're being honest here, I think you’ve known for a while that you need to make some pretty big changes in your life. That's what this Negativity Detox is for.

Check out the 30-Day Negativity Detox here if you're ready to cleanse your mind, body, and soul of the toxicity that's been holding you back!
